Recruitment in School of Psychology(SCNU) 2018
Established in 1933 and located in Guangzhou, South China Normal University (SCNU), co-constructed both by the Ministry of Education and People’s Government of Guangdong Province, is a member of Project 211. SCNU entered into Guangdong High-Level University Sponsoring Project in 2015 and became a member of National Sponsoring Project for World-Class Disciplines Construction 2017.
The University’s discipline covers 12 categories including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and art.
Psychology in SCNU originated in the early 1950s. Now there are learning and cognitive neuroscience, research on nation-wide mental health care, cognitive impairment and the prevention of psychological trauma disorders, psychological statistics and measurement methods, students’ key competencies assessment research and other domains. In 2001, School of Psychology was granted the right to award the doctorate of the first-level discipline of psychology. In the same year, the center for psychological application and research of South China Normal University was approved by the Ministry of Education as key research center of Humanities and Social Sciences. In 2002, developmental and educational psychology was approved as state key discipline. In the nation-wide university discipline evaluations organized by the Ministry of Education, psychology discipline in SCNU was ranked the top 3 in China both in 2009 and 2012. In 2017, it was rated A+, ranking the first level with Beijing Normal University and Peking University.

Job description: Applicants should have global and developmental view, world first-class research achievements, techniques, methods or relevant resources, are capable of leading sciences, and can push ahead the joint progress of psychology, neuroscience and relevant disciplines; have made recognized breakthroughs in relevant fields, and are expected to develop innovative theories.

Top-level young scholar:
Job description: The age limit is under 40 for natural sciences applicants, and 45 for humanities applicants. The applicants should be included in Chinese Top-level Young Scholar Plan or have the similar qualifications of this plan; had leading academic achievements in China. Winners of “National Excellent 100 Doctoral Dissertation” would have a priority.
Support Package/Salaries/Benefits
Basic annual salary is 300,000-500,000(CNY), and competitive rewards, allowance for housing, initial funding and children’s schooling are provided. Please contact us for details.
Young Talented Scholar (two levels)
Job description:
First-level scholars: Applicants should have graduated with a doctor’s degree or been a postdoc from high-level universities (TOP 300 universities in the world) at home or abroad, age under 38 years old. For applicants in domestics, we expect you to have a postdoc experience and have hosted scientific research project experience.
Second-level scholars: applicants should have got a Ph.D. degree within the past 3 years from China Academy of Science (CAS), China Academy of Social Science (CASS), or other university which has similar ranking or higher than SCNU, age under 35.
Support Package/Salaries/Benefits
For First-level scholars: 250,000 CNY as a starting annual salary.
For Second –level scholars: 200,000 CNY as a starting annual salary.
For both two levels of scholars, if you are granted by National Natural Science Foundation Youth Project or General Project within the contract, the annual salary would be 300,000 CNY or 350,000 CNY.
If you apply successfully Guangdong Province Young Talents Project (http://rc.gdstc.gov.cn/egrantweb/), you can get additional 500,000 CNY reward.
Initial research funding: 200,000 CNY for science and engineer subjects, and 100,000 CNY for other subjects.
Housing allowance: 3,000 CNY per month.
We also provide children’s schooling and social insurance.
Postdoc position (two levels):
Job description:
First-level postdoc: applicants should have a Ph.D. degree within the past 3 years from CAS, CASS, or other famous (top 300 in the world) universities, age under 35.
Second-level postdoc: applicants should have a Ph.D. degree within the past 3 years.
Support Package/Salaries/Benefits
A starting annual salary is 220,000 CNY for first-level postdoc, and 200,000 CNY for second-level postdoc.
For both levels of postdoc, annual salary would be 250,000 CNY if you have been rewarded by the Postdoc Science Foundation, 300,000 CNY for the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Project, and 350,000 CNY for the National Natural Science Foundation General Project.
Housing: we provide an apartment for postdoc, or 3,000 CNY per month for housing allowance. Children schooling, and social insurance are also provided.
