Sleep, occupying about 1/3 of the time in life, plays an important role in maintaining the normal physical and psychological functions of individuals. Therefore, studying sleep and sleep health have great theoretical and practical significance. The Center for Sleep Research (C4SR) at the South China Normal University (SCNU)combines polysomnography (PSG), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and near-infrared spectroscopy, etc. with the individual psychological assessments, behavioral tests, physiological indicators, brain function, etc. as indicators to examine the impact of normal sleep, sleep loss and circadian rhythms on the individual cognitive, emotional and social abilities. The Research Center also pays attention to the physical and mental condition of the shift workers and is committed to promoting sleep health of different groups of people.
