工作坊内容简介
主题一:Introduction to Latent Class and Latent Profile Analysis
摘要:The goal of this workshop is to help participants gain the theoretical background and applied skills to be able to address interesting research questions using latent class and latent profile analysis. By the end of the workshop, participants will have examined preliminary latent class and latent profile models provided by the instructor. Participants will become familiar with many of the latent class analysis concepts covered in the recent book co-authored by Drs. Linda Collins and Stephanie Lanza and published by Wiley, Latent Class and Latent Transition Analysis: With Applications in the Social, Behavioral, and Health Sciences. Participants will also become familiar with analogous latent profile analysis concepts. Workshop time will be spent in lecture, software demonstrations, exercises, and iscussion. At the workshop, participants will be provided with an electronic copy of all lecture notes, select exercises and output, and suggested reading lists for future reference. The prerequisite for this workshop is graduate-level statistics training for the behavioral or health sciences up through linear regression.

主题二: A Practical Guide to Causal Inference with Propensity Scores
摘要:The goal of this workshop is to help participants gain the theoretical background and applied skills to be able to draw causal inferences from observational data where participants were not randomized to levels of a predictor. By the end of the workshop, participants will have worked through three step-by-step demonstrations of propensity score methods (i.e., weighting, matching, subclassification) in the context of an empirical example. Participants will become familiar with the concepts introduced in a paper by Lanza, Moore, and Butera (2013) in theAmerican Journal of Community Psychology. Workshop time will be spent in lecture, demonstrations, and discussion. At the workshop, participants will be provided with an electronic copy of all lecture notes, the referenced paper, and suggested reading lists for future reference. The prerequisite for this workshop is graduate-level statistics training for the behavioral or health sciences up through linear regression.
